I found this article on Wikipedia about the "Montauk Monster". I'm still just weirded out about the whole racoon idea. And I'm not sure how reliable this is but whatever.
[edit] Possible identifications
Speculation in published reports included theories that the Montauk Monster might have been a turtle without its shell—even though a turtle's shell cannot be removed without damaging the spine[9][10]—a dog, a raccoon,[11][12] or perhaps a science experiment from the nearby government animal testing facility, the Plum Island Animal Disease Center.[13] The creature's appearance was believed to have been altered through immersion in water for an extended period before coming to rest on the shore, making it difficult to identify.[11]
William Wise, director of Stony Brook University's Living Marine Resources Institute, interpreted the photo along with a colleague; they deemed the creature a fake, the result of "someone who got very creative with latex." Wise discounted the following possibilities:[14]
Raccoon. ("The legs appear to be too long in proportion to the body.")
Sea turtle. ("Sea turtles do not have teeth")
Rodent. ("Rodents have two huge, curved incisor teeth in front of their mouths.")
Dog or other canine such as a coyote. ("Prominent eye ridge and the feet" don't match.)
Sheep. (Sheep don't have sharp teeth).
On August 1st, Gawker[15] published pictures and X-ray images of a water rat, an Australian rodent with several similarities to the Montauk Monster, such as the "beak", tail, feet, and size. On the same day, Jeff Corwin appeared on Fox News and claimed that upon close inspection of the photograph, he feels sure the "monster" is merely a raccoon or dog that has decomposed slightly.[11] This was backed up by Darren Naish, a British paleontologist, who examined the images and agreed that, if real, the creature was a raccoon. Naish says that "claims that the limb proportions of the Montauk carcass are unlike those of raccoons are not correct", and on his blog he furnishes an illustration of an intact raccoon corpse drawn over the corpse in the photograph.[11]
On August 5, Fox Channel's Morning Show repeated speculation that the beast is a decayed corpse of a capybara, even though capybaras do not have tails.[16] The next day, the same program reported that an unnamed man claimed that the animal's carcass had been stolen from his front yard.[17]

to me it looks like that thing totally has a beak. or maybe just part of the face got torn off or whatever. either way i am not buying the racoon answer. but i am a firm believer in the ineptness of modern science as a whole. hehe mostly i just wanted to fuel my reputation as a cold hearted cynic.
anyway...my personal opinion is that it is okay to say you don't know what something is if you really ddon't know. there...i said it.
anyway, here is a video a friend emailed me and i thought it was really funny. it reminds me of stuff off the older british show "trigger happy tv". do you guys remember that show?
anyway, here it is.

If you compare the above raccoon skeleton illustration with the Montauk Monster, you can see striking similarities.

The experts have concluded the monster is a raccoon. *shrug*.

i wonder what it is. although it could just be some sea creature that hasn't been discovered yet that has been forced closer to the shore because of giant islands of trash in the ocean. then it died...we are sick. by the way, i think everybody should learn about ralph nader. i just watched a documentary on him and i respect him. he stands for good things and represents the small part of politics that is well informed and incorruptible. you know...the part that will never succeed in politics because they aren't corrupt. once again...we are sick.
ok, off my soapbox. watch this music video. i like it. it is a little morbid but i like her voice alot.

SICK FREAK NASTY! That's like the grossest/ugo-ist "animal" I have ever seen. Oddly, I want to touch it....
Dunno if you guys heard about these or not, but it makes me chuckle. A while ago there was something that washed up on the beach near New York, no one really knows what it is. The most logical thing I heard was that it is a turtle that lost its shell. But can turtles loose their shells? I thought they were attached because its part of the skeletal structure of the animal. They aren't like snails or crabs moving from "house to house". EDIT: So I did some research and there is NO WAY this thing is a turtle. So I guess the next logical thing it could be is a government genetic experiment. We need Ira Kane, Agent Mulder or D-man Duchovny! Any one of the three will do.
The Montauk Monster
Also some hunters claim to have found in northern Georgia the body of a dead bigfoot and put it in a freezer. They have sent off blood and tissue samples for DNA testing. How exciting. :)
Poor Harry, the Hendersons will be heartbroken.
Also the olympics have been awesome.

EFY and Breakups Monday, August 11th 2008 - 10:28 am
By: Ben
Hola y como estas?
I am doing pretty well. I spent the summer doing EFY again, this time as a counselor's counselor and planning the logistics of the program. In other words I carried around a walkie talkie. It was a good experience I worked with one team all summer and developed some quality friendships. Currently I am staying at a hotel in Navoo, I picked up a counselor week last minute and I am really excited about being in Navoo and having youth to work with again. As far as romance, I was dating a gorgeous girl the majority of the summer named Noelle. However foolishly or not I stopped feeling that it was right and then I cut her loose. So here I am in Navoo, just being single and loving life more or less. Academically I am still pursuing that useless english degree, and loving that as well.

My life is going pretty well. Brandon has just under 6 months left until he comes home from his mission and we're still planning on getting married when he comes home. Hooray! My mom is going to make my wedding dress and we just took the satin up to get it embroidered by a guy up in Pleasant View. I graduated last may with a degree in Piano pedagogy, I have more students than I think I can handle and I'm going to be teaching the music classes out at Wellington Elementary again this year. I just finished Breaking Dawn and I'm not sure how I feel about the way it ended, but I really liked the series and can't wait for the twilight movie. It should be good. Other than that...my life is mundane since I have no social life. I go to relief society but I have any friends that I hang out with. I get lonely every now and then but I then I call Jen and she keeps me company. :) I'm happy with my life for the most part.

Here I am unvanished so all may stop doubting our existance, also missing us(Jackie and myself that is, as it would make sense that we would vanish together... as we are married). Just look at my smiling face on the right and know that I live, then scroll down the page until you find Jackie's smiling face in the form of a little picture on the right and know that she lives as well.
}:•D
Tyler is doing good, I(Tyler, age 25) just got done with my last session of summer school for this summer and start back up with non summer classes in about 3 weeksish. I spend my days now still working for my company programming stuff. Jackie(she, age 24), for all of those who didnt know, has finished nursing school - that crazy intensive program that was craptacular in so many ways. So congrats to her and thanks go out to those who called to congratulate her on finishing. That is where I am and where Jackie is as well. So now that everyone knows whats going on miss us no more.
I don't really have anything to report on either. I'm also sick of school (but only one year left!). School starts for John and I on Sept. 2. I'm taking 7 or 8 classes...which sucks...hard. Still working at BYU...
We go on our cruise to Mexico in like 2 1/2 weeks!
I miss Tyler because I haven't talked to him/seen him in FOREVER :(
AND!
I finally updated my driver's license to 21 and above! Yay! Now I have gone from a vertical card...to HORIZONTAL!

I have only a handful of things to report.
1. I graduate in December with a worthless degree in English. Whoop.
2. I am currently considering an advanced (Masters or PhD) in Physical Therapy. My mother gave me the idea a week or two ago and I can't get it out of my head. We shall see.
3. No women.
This concludes my report.
P.S. KEVIN! Get a PayPal account (for free!) so I can give you money for thepenta! You could even link to it from the page so everyone can donate, quite easily, when donation time comes around.

So, who's life treating everyone?
Jen is still working at the airport here in Price. I'm still working at Albertsons. Life is going pretty good for us right now. I'm trying to work things out so I can do web pages on the side. Between working at the pharmacy and doing the pages I don't have time for much else. Right now I'm working on a page for the airport. I showed the calendar page to Jen and it turns out it is something they could use. ;) I thought it was pretty cool. So I've been tayloring it for the airport. It's been fun, but it's been a lot of work.
Other than that I'm just doing that waiting for school to start... *sigh* Is anyone else getting tired of school? I'm ready to be done. After spending 3 & 1/2 years a CEU I'm finally going to get my associates! Yay! After this semister I'm not really sure what we're going to do in terms of school.
Anywho, that's how life is treating me. =P
